No, Jellow is not an intermediary. Clients and freelancers have direct contact about an assignment.
Jellow is a freelance platform that connects supply and demand directly.
We do not allow intermediaries on Jellow. We are committed to direct contact between clients and freelancers.
A freelancer profile is created by an individual who wants to work on a freelance basis, and a client is someone looking for a freelancer for their own organization.
You can find almost all profiles within the business services sector on Jellow — from freelance developers to freelance legal professionals. An overview of all areas of expertise can be found here.
Clients can hire freelancers directly via Jellow’s network of more than 50,000 experienced freelancers.
This is based on a service fee, meaning you don’t have to pay any subscription costs.
The service fee is added on top of the agreed hourly rate of the freelancer.
At Jellow, you can choose from three account types: Jellow Go, Jellow Standard, and Jellow Enterprise.
We have listed the advantages of each account clearly here, so you can decide which one suits you best.
With Jellow Go, you choose to post the assignment yourself and select and invite freelancers independently.
Would you like help with this? Then choose Jellow Standard, where our Customer Success team is ready to support you — from assignment description to freelancer selection and hiring.
And if you don’t find the right freelancer? Then you don’t pay anything at Jellow. Clear and simple!
Jellow Contracting is the part of Jellow that handles the contractual processing. Jellow Contracting prepares an agreement and ensures that the freelancer’s hours are paid.
If you are invited by a client, it will be stated in the assignment details.
Decency – Acting with integrity and responsibility through honesty, transparency, and respect.
Decisiveness – Seeing and seizing opportunities. Not being afraid to make mistakes, but daring to learn.
Collaboration – Helping and trusting each other by making connections, learning from one another, and working together toward results.
You, the freelancer, create a profile on Jellow. For this, we need some basic information from you — such as a CV, profile photo, and job title. Once all details are completed, your profile is visible to clients.
A client searches for freelance profiles that match their assignment through keywords and then shares the assignment with them. If you are selected, you will receive an email with a link to the assignment and a request to respond in the text box at the bottom of the assignment. You will also receive email notifications about any further client responses.
To help you fill in your Jellow profile, we have written a blog and created an example: This is what the ideal profile looks like.
Sign up and activate your email address, then you can start creating your profile. Choose a good photo, a secure password, and fill in the required information. Once everything is complete, your profile becomes visible to clients in our network.
The Jellow platform is completely free for freelancers.
It’s not possible to directly upload a new CV, as it is still being processed.
You can email the correct CV to [email protected], and we’ll make sure it’s added to your profile.
At Jellow, we assume a minimum hourly rate of €35. Beyond that, you set your own rate based on your knowledge, experience, and skills.
The hourly rate you enter is indicative. Together with the client, and based on the assignment, you’ll agree on the final rate. You can find an overview of average freelancer rates at Jellow here.
No, the hourly rate you enter in your profile is excluding VAT.
Freelancers do not pay any costs, margin, or fee to Jellow. The rate you enter is exactly what you earn.
Yes, even if you live abroad, you can register. However, you must provide a city name in your profile. If you have any questions about this, contact us at [email protected]
Yes, you can only choose one field. Clients use search terms to find freelancers. When the search terms match the content of your profile, your name will appear. The chosen field of expertise does not directly affect this.
Choose the field that best suits your experience or where you want to work. It’s also important to carefully describe your profile content, especially your work experience section, which can really make a difference.
If you don’t fit into any existing categories, you can choose “Other.” This doesn’t negatively affect your visibility. Your visibility depends on the keywords in your profile, such as job titles or work experience, that clients search for.
Jellow operates within the business services sector. So if you’re, for example, a carpenter or hairdresser, your field won’t appear, as we don’t offer assignments outside business services.
Als je het vakgebied wil wijzigen kan dat via de knop EDIT (rechts naast het vakgebied) in je profiel of door ons te mailen ([email protected]) en aan te geven in welk vakgebied je geplaatst zou willen worden.
Most clients on Jellow are Dutch, so it’s generally best to create your profile in Dutch.
However, if you want to make sure you’re found within your expertise area, we recommend adding relevant English terms as well — for example, under “Other search terms” at the bottom of your profile.
At this time, it’s not yet possible to upload a portfolio file directly to your Jellow profile. However, you can add a weblink to your portfolio. If you’re invited to respond to an assignment, you can also attach a file with your reply.
Het is niet de bedoeling dat je meerdere accounts aanmaakt. Uit één profiel dient duidelijk naar voren te komen waar je ervaring in hebt en naar wat voor functie(s) je op zoek bent.
A freelance account is for one individual freelancer; it cannot be used for multiple people. It is possible to recommend other freelancers for an assignment if it does not suit you, but there should be no margin between them.
You may also use this for your client account. To avoid confusion when logging in, it is not possible to link a freelance profile and client account to the same email address. If you still want to create a Jellow account for both, link your client account to your employer’s email address and your freelance profile to a different email address.
Clients can build their own freelance pool in Jellow. Clients add freelancers to their pool if they have worked with them before or if they think the freelancer would be interesting for a possible future assignment. This makes it easy for them to consult their own network when a new assignment comes up.
It is not (yet) possible to see who has viewed your profile and how often your profile has been viewed.
Clients use keywords when searching for freelancers. The content of your profile is therefore important for your findability. Consider adding a summary and/or introduction, and an explanation of your work experience. For example, explain where you gained your experience (including tools and programmes), what your responsibilities were, and what your qualities are. If the content of your profile matches the client’s keywords, you will be found more easily.
It is, of course, also important to keep your profile up to date (including your availability). Another way to make your profile more interesting is to ask former clients and colleagues for feedback.
The Jellow Club is a group of freelancers who are open to sharing knowledge and collaborating with each other. You can sign up for the Jellow Club via the settings in your profile. You will then gain access to the Club page. Here you can share events, assignments and messages. This allows you to ask questions to specialised freelancers and share your own knowledge. Would you like to know more about the Jellow Club?
Then read this blog.
You are free to send a request to all your (former) clients or colleagues to complete an assessment.
Your CV will be used to fill in your work experience, education and other information in Jellow. This information is visible to clients, but they cannot access the CV you uploaded. Do you want to be sure that the client will see it? Then we recommend that you send it along with your response to the assignment. Are you curious about what a profile on Jellow looks like? View the sample profile here.
You can delete your Jellow account yourself by going to settings. Under Settings, you will see the heading “change account”. Here you will find a button that allows you to delete your profile.
You can always adjust your availability in your profile. For example, you can be available for more or fewer days, or temporarily unavailable. Go to your Jellow profile, click “edit” next to availability and change your entry if necessary.
If you have indicated that you are unavailable, you will generally not receive any more assignments (temporarily). Want to be sure that you won’t be invited for the time being? In your profile settings, you have the option to make your profile (temporarily) invisible. This means you will not be found until you turn your visibility back on.
Jellow works with a wide range of clients, from large corporations to small businesses operating in a variety of sectors.
Here you will find various clients and their experiences with Jellow.
Jellow works with private assignments, which means that clients use Jellow to search for freelancers who are a good fit for their assignment. They then select a number of freelancers to whom the assignment is sent.
When you are invited for an assignment, you will immediately receive an email and the assignment will also appear under the “Assignments” button. This means you will only see the assignments to which you can respond.
When you are selected for an assignment, you will receive an email immediately. The email will be sent to the email address linked to your profile. You will be linked to the assignment via email, but you can also find it after receiving an invitation by logging into Jellow and clicking on “Assignments”. Here you will find all the assignments for which you have been invited.
If you are selected, you will receive an email with a link to the assignment AND a request to respond to it in the text box at the bottom of the assignment. You will be kept informed of further responses from the client by email.
The invitation email also includes a “Not interested” button in case you are unavailable or the assignment is not quite what you are looking for. Always respond so that the client knows whether or not you are interested.
At Jellow, we depend on supply and demand. This means we don’t know in advance what a client is looking for. Of course, we hope that a job that suits you well will be posted on Jellow in the near future. A complete and detailed profile will contribute to better findability, increasing your chances of being included in a job selection.
Read this blog to see what else you can do to improve your findability.
The number of assignments per field is constantly changing due to fluctuating supply and demand. As a result, we cannot tell you exactly how many assignments are available or how long it will take before you receive an invitation. Of course, we do our best to connect as many clients and freelancers as possible, and we hope that an assignment that suits you well will be posted on Jellow in the near future.
It is true that there are assignments for which the client pays platform fees. These fees are for the client and are in addition to the hourly rate that you have agreed with the client. This does not come out of your hourly rate.
All freelancers registered with Jellow must be registered with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) as freelancers. However, some freelancers still prefer to be paid via a payroll construction.
There are often options for this, either via Jellow Contracting or directly with the client. You can discuss this with the client. Please note: you must be active as a freelancer.
Jellow only provides the network that connects clients and freelancers and does not intervene in the contact between them. However, we do emphasise to clients that Jellow expects them to respond within 48 hours.
Do you have further questions about the assignment or when you can expect a response? We recommend that you respond below the assignment or contact the client directly.
If you are not available yourself or you know someone else who is better suited to the assignment, you can always recommend someone else. You can do this via the page where the assignment is listed. Click on “recommend someone” and enter their name and email address. This person will then receive an invitation to Jellow. They can use this personal link to create an account and gain immediate access to the assignment.
Sometimes you may receive an assignment that does not quite match your preferences, or you may not be available. We would appreciate it if you could still leave us your feedback. This helps us to improve our selections. You can click on “Not interested” for the assignment, and you will then be asked to provide a reason. If you fill in this information, you will no longer be included in any reminders for the assignment.
If you are unavailable, please update your profile so that we can take this into account.
The telephone number on the website is for our head office in Naarden. It is therefore not possible to contact the client for the assignment you have been invited to via this number. If you wish to contact the client directly, it is best to call or email the company in question. We do not share contact details.

There are no intermediaries active on the platform.
You are free to continue the conversation with the freelancer however you prefer, whether by telephone, email, face-to-face, or via an online conversation. Once you have found the perfect freelancer for your assignment, close the assignment in Jellow and immediately inform all other freelancers.
At Jellow, we work on the basis of a service fee, which means you do not have to pay any subscription costs. The service fee is added to the agreed hourly rate of the freelancer. At Jellow, you can choose from three models: Jellow Go, Jellow Standard and Jellow Enterprise. We have clearly listed the advantages of each model,
so you can choose the model that suits you best.
And if you don’t find the right freelancer? Then you don’t have to pay anything. That’s clear!
Register as a client via this page. In order to help you as quickly as possible and to see if your search query matches Jellow, we ask you to fill in what type of freelancer(s) you are looking for and what the freelance assignment is.
After this, you can select the freelancers who best suit your assignment yourself or with the support of our Jellow experts in our network. You share the assignment with the freelancers, after which you will usually receive the first responses from the freelancers to your assignment within 24 hours.
The freelancers at Jellow are active across the entire spectrum of business services, from development, marketing, HR, sales, IT, design, finance, communications and legal to construction.
Unfortunately not. Jellow helps connect businesses and freelancers. As a private individual, we are unable to assist you further.
A freelance pool is a place within the organisation where clients (or hirers) have access to all freelancers. This pool consists of freelancers your company has worked with before, freelancers with interesting profiles you would like to work with in the future, or freelancers who are currently working for you. This means you always have your preferred candidates clearly listed in one place and can respond even faster to assignments.
Jellow assists you in building your own freelance pool. You can invite freelancers within Jellow to register for your freelance pool. You can also invite freelancers outside of Jellow, for example via LinkedIn, your careers page, the intranet or one-on-one.
After building your freelance pool, you will always have your preferred candidates in view. You can choose to only post assignments in your freelance pool, or to give priority to candidates in your pool.
In addition, you can also use Jellow to keep your freelancers continuously informed of updates from your organisation. Updates that you would share on your intranet can now also be shared in the freelance pool. Finally, you can put yourself on the map in the freelance market through your freelance pool. You get a customisable environment where you can show why freelancers should want to work for your organisation.
Certainly. In fact, if you choose Jellow Go or Jellow Standard, you automatically agree to hire the freelancer through Jellow. Together with our partners, we will take care of the entire contractual process and time registration for you.
We believe that you know best what you are looking for. That is why you have direct contact with the freelancers in Jellow and ultimately choose the best freelancer for your assignment. We naturally ensure that the platform is as user-friendly as possible.
Nevertheless, we understand that you may occasionally require assistance. That is why our Customer Support team is available to assist you. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or for further support in finding freelancers and posting assignments.
In addition to what you can expect from us, we also expect a few things from you. We consider decency to be extremely important, which is why we expect you to treat our network of freelancers with respect. This means:
- You respond (within 48 hours) to all freelancers, even if you do not proceed with them.
- You have a genuine intention to work with a freelancer.
- You pay both Jellow and the freelancer within the agreed payment term.
- If you are not yet satisfied with the number of responses or the match, please let us know. We can then assist you in gathering new responses.
- If you have chosen to use Jellow via Jellow Go or Jellow Standard, hiring is mandatory via Jellow.
Jellow offers three types of accounts: Jellow Go, Jellow Standard, and Jellow Enterprise. Would you like to hire freelancers on a one-off basis and place the assignment and select freelancers yourself? Then the entry-level option, Jellow Go, is the best choice. If you would like assistance in selecting the best freelancers, we recommend Jellow Standard.
Are you hiring multiple freelancers this year and would you also like a branded environment, freelance pool development, customised support, etc.? Then Jellow Enterprise is the better option. We have
clearly listed the differences per account. Having trouble choosing? Please contact Bo: 085-8770070.
You determine the start date for each account. Jellow Go and Jellow Standard run until you have found the right match with a freelancer. Jellow Enterprise accounts have a term of one year and are automatically renewed unless otherwise indicated.
Curious about all the possibilities for Jellow Go, Jellow Standard and Jellow Enterprise? We have clearly listed the accounts for you so that you can compare them.
With Jellow Go and Jellow Standard, you get one user account. With Jellow Enterprise, you can customise this yourself. Would you like multiple user accounts, for example for a colleague? That is certainly possible! Please contact Matthijs on 085-8770070.
You can cancel your subscription at any time during the term. Send an email to
[email protected]. Please state the reason for cancellation and any feedback that could help us improve our platform. Your subscription will then be cancelled. You can continue to use Jellow until the last day of your subscription.
It would be a shame if you built up a freelance pool and it suddenly disappeared when your subscription expired. That is why your details will be retained for the next time you wish to use our services. We look forward to seeing you again!
The costs depend on the account you choose. At Jellow, you can choose between Jellow Go, Jellow Standard, or Jellow Enterprise.
We have clearly listed the various accounts and associated prices for you. Would you like to know more or do you have any questions about the accounts and prices? Please feel free to contact Bo on: 085-8770070.
After giving your approval, you will receive an invoice from us by email. You can pay this directly via iDEAL or credit card using a link in the same email. You can also transfer the amount directly to us. Our account number is included in the same email.
If you have opted for Jellow Go or Jellow Standard, you pay a service fee on top of each hour worked by the freelancer. The freelancer registers their hours with us and we send you an invoice for this, including the service fee.
Our Jellower Tara knows everything about invoices. If you have any questions, please send her an email at [email protected]. We will answer your question as soon as possible.
You can share your assignments within the freelance network in Jellow itself. You can do this by posting your assignment description on this page. Then click on “Invite freelancers”. We will suggest filters that you can use in the network, but you can of course look for other search terms or filters that are important for the assignment. Next, select the freelancers you want to invite for the assignment.
We recommend inviting around 50 freelancers. Finally, click on “Send an assignment” and invite the freelancers to respond. See this guide for further explanation.
An assignment is often the first impression and the connecting factor between you and the freelancer, which is why it is extremely important to describe it well.
A perfect job description should include at least the following elements: play, purpose and potential. We have created a checklist for you to help you write a good job description so that you make a good first impression and receive relevant responses.
You can download the “Checklist – How to write a good job description” here.
You can start building your freelance pool via your own dashboard in Jellow. Click on the “Invite freelancers now” button, where you can invite specific freelancers by adding their name and email address. You can also copy a link here. Freelancers can use this link to sign up for your freelance pool directly. You can share this link via LinkedIn, your intranet or your Careers page, for example.
Once you know which freelancer you want to work with, you can hire them. To do this, go to the freelancer’s profile. On the left-hand side of the profile, you will see the “hire” button.
On the next screen, you will be asked to share some more information about the assignment, the freelancer’s hourly rate and the duration of the hire. Then click on send.
After you have completed the hiring forms, they will be sent to the freelancer for review. At the same stage, the freelancer will also be asked to provide any additional information. The agreement will then be screened by our partner. Finally, both you and the freelancer will receive the agreement to sign officially.
There are many possibilities! Consider a specific confidentiality agreement, liability insurance or relationship clause. You can contact your contact person to discuss the options. Please also state your preference in the comments section of the hiring request.
You can send a personal message to a freelancer via their profile. On the left-hand side of the profile, you will see the “Send message” button. This will open a window where you can send a subject, message and any attachments to the freelancer. As soon as you receive a reply from the freelancer, you will receive an email from us. You can find your conversations under ‘Messages‘.
You can find your account details in your personal dashboard. Are you missing any information? Please contact your contact person or email us at
[email protected].
